Article and Press Release Writing

Friday, November 28, 2008

RULES in Writing:

* A compelling title is what you ought to be prioritizing
* Make it as easy as possible for the readers, don’t use complicated terms or expressions.
* Have an objective in your work

ARTICLE
  • A story, report, or opinion piece in a newspaper, magazine, journal, internet, etc.
  • An article is a brief composition on a subject, usually appearing in a magazine or journal.

PRESS RELEASE
  • Press Releases are official statements issued by companies and organizations to print, television and media.
  • Press Releases are news items designed to inform – not specifically to sell something.

The Difference Between an Article and a Press Release

While you technically retain copyright to both your article and to your press release, usually the expectation with a press release is that it will be reprinted in multiple places without the publishers’ having to ask permission. They are also generally free to edit/rewrite the release as they see it fit to match the tone and theme of their site or publication.

BENEFITS:

  • Product /service recognition

    • People like to buy from someone who knows what they are doing.

  • Increase in traffic

    • Visitors daily read new articles and are happy to visit author’s website.

  • Boost in sales

    • A business owner who seems informed about their business and their customers will get a boost in sales.
